Future Radio released their third single for this year, “Rise”, on Friday, 18 August 2023. The song can be described as an electro-tinged, pop-rock anthem with a strong anti-bullying message.
It was specifically created for the Rise Theatre Production which is aimed at high schools across South Africa. The theatre production combines animation and rock music to encourage youth to uplift one another and take a resolute stand against bullying.
Future Radio has become known for the animated imagery in their music videos, and the “Rise” video is no exception. As with previous releases, the story of “Rise” is built around an animated protagonist that forms part of a surreal larger world. According to Drikus Roets, the band’s guitarist and visual designer, “I had the opportunity to create on an even larger scale, as the story will be conveyed through animation as part of the Rise theatre show”.
