Luzelle (who previously performed as “Ruby June”) released her first Afrikaans single “Fakebook Funk (Waar Is Die Liefde?)” in early September 2023.
The song explores the lack of honesty and love on social media, and whether this is a reflection of society. She wrote the song after realising that it is a waste of time to engage in disagreements with people on social media, following a heated Facebook debate she was involved in.
Music video
The unplanned music video for “Fakebook Funk (Waar Is Die Liefde?)” was shot on a smartphone during a visit to Switzerland earlier this year. Luzelle and husband Paul (fellow musician and drummer for Van Der Aven) stumbled upon an old factory-turned-art gallery which became the colourful backdrop for Luzelle’s quirky dance moves.
