MyMyMy recently released their first full-length album “Treffers vir Tannies” (“Hit Songs for Aunties”). The musical duo (consisting of Conrad van Breda and Jana Oosthuizen) describe the album as an ode to radio dramas, soap operas and techno music.
The album consists of ten tracks which includes the previously released singles “Ek en Jy, Dikgat” (2021), “Die Partytjie” (2021) and “Vonkel” (2021). Two of the tracks feature guest artists SAMPAULE and Cloud Witness.
“Treffers vir Tannies” expresses MyMyMy’s, often tongue-in-cheek, commentary on Afrikaans culture using a variety of styles such as synth pop and Broadway musical. It even includes a dark take on the original happy-go-lucky “Neem my op Vlerke” by Anneli van Rooyen.
